Hebbian Learning in Feedback Networks: Development within Visual Cortex

چکیده
There is controversy as to the development of columnar structure in primary visual cortex. Various experiments showed the important role of cortex interconnection in developing the columnar structure. We proposed a model of Hebbian development within visual cortex. In this model, the columnar structure originates from symmetry breaking in feedback pathways within an area of cortex, rather than feedforward pathways between areas.

Receptive Field and Feature Map Formation in the Primary Visual Cortex via Hebbian Learning with Inhibitory Feedback
A linear neural network is proposed for mamalian vision system in which backward connections from the primary visual cortex (V1) to the lateral geniculate nucleus play a key role. The backward connections control the flow of information from the LGN to V1 in such a way as to maximize the rate of transfer of information from the LGN to V1. The application of hebbian learning to the forward and b...
متن کاملHebbian Reweighting on Stable Representations in Perceptual Learning.
Perceptual learning is the improvement in perceptual task performance with practice or training. The observation of specificity in perceptual learning has been widely associated with plasticity in early visual cortex representations. Here, we review the evidence supporting the plastic reweighting of readout from stable sensory representations, originally proposed by Dosher & Lu (1998), as an al...

This paper considers the use of Hebbian learning rules to model aspects of development and learning, including the emergence of structure in the visual system in early life. There is considerable physiological evidence that a Hebb-like learning rule applies to the strengthening of synaptic efficacy seen in neurophysiological investigations of Long-Term Potentiation, and similar learning rules a...
متن کاملAssociative Memory in a Simple Model of Oscillating Cortex
A generic model of oscillating cortex, which assumes "minimal" coupling justified by known anatomy, is shown to function as an associative memory, using previously developed theory. The network has explicit excitatory neurons with local inhibitory interneuron feedback that forms a set of nonlinear oscillators coupled only by long range excitatofy connections. Using a local Hebb-like learning ru...

Spend your few moment to read a book even only few pages. Reading book is not obligation and force for everybody. When you don't want to read, you can get punishment from the publisher. Read a book becomes a choice of your different characteristics. Many people with reading habit will always be enjoyable to read, or on the contrary. For some reasons, this hebbian learning and negative feedback ...
